Neutral Theory

Neutral theory may refer to one of these two related theories:

  • the neutral theory of molecular evolution; or
  • the unified neutral theory of biodiversity.

Famous quotes containing the words neutral and/or theory:

The United States must be neutral in fact as well as in name.... We must be impartial in thought as well as in action ... a nation that neither sits in judgment upon others nor is disturbed in her own counsels and which keeps herself fit and free to do what is honest and disinterested and truly serviceable for the peace of the world.
    Woodrow Wilson (1856–1924)

The struggle for existence holds as much in the intellectual as in the physical world. A theory is a species of thinking, and its right to exist is coextensive with its power of resisting extinction by its rivals.
    Thomas Henry Huxley (1825–95)
