Famous quotes containing the words short, track, speed and/or skating:
“Remember, that when I speak of pleasures I always mean the elegant pleasures of a rational being, and not the brutal ones of a swine. I mean la bonne chère, short of gluttony; wine, infinitely short of drunkenness; play, without the least gaming; and gallantry, without debauchery.”
—Philip Dormer Stanhope, 4th Earl Chesterfield (1694–1773)
“Anyone who tries to keep track of what is happening in China is going to end up by wearing all the skin of his left ear from twirling around on it.”
—Robert Benchley (1889–1945)
“Life is too short to waste
In critic peep or cynic bark,
Quarrel or reprimand:
‘Twill soon be dark;
Up, heed thine own aim, and
God speed the mark!”
—Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)
“In skating over thin ice, our safety is in our speed.”
—Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)
