Navarre Beach County Park - History

History

This park was open as a state park for only four months before it was extensively damaged by Hurricane Ivan in 2004, suffering further damage from Hurricane Dennis in 2005.

In October 2005, the Santa Rosa County Commissioners were in negotiation with the state to return the park to county control. On October 9 2008 the Santa Rosa County Board of County Commissioners voted to take over the park, and it is now known as "Navarre Beach County Park".

Famous quotes containing the word history:

As I am, so shall I associate, and so shall I act; Caesar’s history will paint out Caesar.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)

It gives me the greatest pleasure to say, as I do from the bottom of my heart, that never in the history of the country, in any crisis and under any conditions, have our Jewish fellow citizens failed to live up to the highest standards of citizenship and patriotism.
    William Howard Taft (1857–1930)

The myth of independence from the mother is abandoned in mid- life as women learn new routes around the mother—both the mother without and the mother within. A mid-life daughter may reengage with a mother or put new controls on care and set limits to love. But whatever she does, her child’s history is never finished.
    Terri Apter (20th century)
