National Student Survey - Results

Results

Aggregate results and cross-institution results and analyses of the NSS are published on the HEFCE website. Detailed results suitable for prospective students are published on the Unistats website, alongside results of the Destination of Leavers from Higher Education survey.

Results from the survey form the student-centred dimension of Teaching Quality Information (TQI). As such, they are often incorporated into League tables of British universities alongside other measures such as entry standards, student:staff ratio, dropout rate etc.

Top institutions for student satisfaction have been:

  • 2005 Courtauld Institute of Art (100%)
  • 2006 Open University (95%)
  • 2007 Open University (95%)
  • 2008 North Warwickshire and Hinckley College (97%) joint with City College Birmingham (97%)
  • 2009 Brooklands College (100%)

Further Education Colleges became eligible for the survey in 2008.

Famous quotes containing the word results:

A distinction of property results from that very protection which a free Government gives to unequal faculties of acquiring it.
    James Madison (1751–1836)

There is not a single rule, however plausible, and however firmly grounded in epistemology, that is not violated at some time or other. It becomes evident that such violations are not accidental events, they are not results of insufficient knowledge or of inattention which might have been avoided. On the contrary, we see that they are necessary for progress.
    Paul Feyerabend (1924–1994)

Pain itself can be pleasurable accidentally in so far as it is accompanied by wonder, as in stage-plays; or in so far as it recalls a beloved object to one’s memory, and makes one feel one’s love for the thing, whose absence gives us pain. Consequently, since love is pleasant, both pain and whatever else results from love, in so far as they remind us of our love, are pleasant.
    Thomas Aquinas (c. 1225–1274)
