National Lacrosse League - Player Origin

Player Origin

Although six of the league's nine teams are based in the United States, over 75% of the players are Canadian. Approximately half of the league's players originate within 75 miles (125 km) of Toronto.

The remainder of the players are either American or Iroquois, with a select few Europeans and Australians. (The sport of lacrosse has always considered the Iroquois/Haudenosaunee as a separate country for the purpose of international competition; its tribes span the U.S.-Canadian border.)

Famous quotes containing the words player and/or origin:

There has been in our time a lack of reliance on language and a lack of experimentation which are frightening to anyone who sees them as symptoms. We know the phenomenon of stage-fright: it holds the player shivering, incapable of speech or action. Perhaps there is an audience-fright which the play can feel, which leaves him with these incapacities.
    Muriel Rukeyser (1913–1980)

All good poetry is the spontaneous overflow of powerful feelings: it takes its origin from emotion recollected in tranquillity.
    William Wordsworth (1770–1850)
