Services
The NES provides the following free-to-use services to UK academic researchers:
- The UK e-Science Certification Authority, which provides digital certificates to identify UK Grid users.
- A web portal, the applications repository, which provides a graphical method for submitting jobs to the NES.
- A resource broker, which can determine the best site or cluster for a submitted job based on its requirements and the current workloads.
- The GSI-SSHTerm, a Java-based terminal used to give command-line access NES resources using GSI-enabled SSH.
- Oracle databases.
- The NES P-GRADE Portal, based on P-GRADE Portal technology, which enables the creation, execution and monitoring of workflows – composed of sequential and parallel jobs – on NES and EGI resources.

Famous quotes containing the word services:
“The community and family networks which helped sustain earlier generations have become scarcer for growing numbers of young parents. Those who lack links to these traditional sources of support are hard-pressed to find other resources, given the emphasis in our society on providing treatment services, rather than preventive services and support for health maintenance and well-being.”
—Bernice Weissbourd (20th century)
“It seems I impregnated Marge
So I do rather feel, by and large,
Some cash should be tendered
For services rendered,
But I cant quite decide what to charge.”
—Anonymous.
“Working women today are trying to achieve in the work world what men have achieved all alongbut men have always had the help of a woman at home who took care of all the other details of living! Today the working woman is also that woman at home, and without support services in the workplace and a respect for the work women do within and outside the home, the attempt to do both is taking its tollon women, on men, and on our children.”
—Jeanne Elium (20th century)
