National Football League (Ireland) - List of Finalists/champions

List of Finalists/champions

Below is a list of all NFL finals (or NFL champions for those seasons in which no final was played). The letters AI indicate the county went on to win the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship that year. The NFL is in general a poor prediction of summer form: only 26% (20/78) of League winners have gone on to become All-Ireland champions. However, since the re–formatting of the competition in 2002, the winner of the national league has gone on to win the All–Ireland on five out of nine occasions: Tyrone (once) in 2003, Kerry (thrice) in 2004, 2006 and 2009, and Cork (once) in 2010.

Famous quotes containing the words list of, list and/or champions:

Religious literature has eminent examples, and if we run over our private list of poets, critics, philanthropists and philosophers, we shall find them infected with this dropsy and elephantiasis, which we ought to have tapped.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)

Do your children view themselves as successes or failures? Are they being encouraged to be inquisitive or passive? Are they afraid to challenge authority and to question assumptions? Do they feel comfortable adapting to change? Are they easily discouraged if they cannot arrive at a solution to a problem? The answers to those questions will give you a better appraisal of their education than any list of courses, grades, or test scores.
    Lawrence Kutner (20th century)

Did all the lets and bars appear
To every just or larger end,
Whence should come the trust and cheer?
Youth must its ignorant impulse lend—
Age finds place in the rear.
All wars are boyish, and are fought by boys,
The champions and enthusiasts of the state:
    Herman Melville (1819–1891)
