In 2007, Merritt, with the Sydney Roosters' Amos Roberts, appeared in the music video for Anthony Mundine's Platinum Ryder single. US rap artist Snoop Dogg - said to be a Rabbitohs fan - has named Merrit as his favourite NRL player.
