Nantwich (UK Parliament Constituency) - Boundaries

Boundaries

The constituency, when created from 1955, was a county constituency formed as the southernmost division of Cheshire in North East England. It comprised the urban districts for the towns of Middlewich, Nantwich and Winsford as well as parts of three rural districts (Nantwich, Northwich and Tarvin).

Nantwich itself had previously been part of the Crewe division. The rest of the new seat had been split off from the Northwich constituency.

There were only minor boundary changes at the redistribution which took effect from the February 1974 general election. The same local authorities were involved as in 1955. However the next redistribution, before the 1983 general election, was based upon a new pattern of local authorities. The Northwich constituency was not retained after the dissolution of Parliament in 1983.

Famous quotes containing the word boundaries:

It is the story-teller’s task to elicit sympathy and a measure of understanding for those who lie outside the boundaries of State approval.
    Graham Greene (1904–1991)

Not too many years ago, a child’s experience was limited by how far he or she could ride a bicycle or by the physical boundaries that parents set. Today ... the real boundaries of a child’s life are set more by the number of available cable channels and videotapes, by the simulated reality of videogames, by the number of megabytes of memory in the home computer. Now kids can go anywhere, as long as they stay inside the electronic bubble.
    Richard Louv (20th century)
