Nandi Bear - in Popular Culture

In Popular Culture

The Peculiar Exploits of Brigadier Ffellowes, a collection of contemporary fantasy stories by Sterling E. Lanier, includes a short story called "His Only Safari," in which the title character briefly sights a "kerit" and speculates that such creatures formed the basis for the Egyptian legends of Anubis.

Norm Sherman, head producer of the podcast "The Drabblecast", wrote a mockumentary entitled "In Search of the Brain-Eating Nandi Bear" that follows crypto-zoologist Conner Choadsworth in his trip to Africa in search of the content for his latest research paper. This is the second Conner Choadsworth story that Norm Sherman has written, the first being "In Search of the Mongolian Deathworm."

Famous quotes containing the words popular and/or culture:

Resorts advertised for waitresses, specifying that they “must appear in short clothes or no engagement.” Below a Gospel Guide column headed, “Where our Local Divines Will Hang Out Tomorrow,” was an account of spirited gun play at the Bon Ton. In Jeff Winney’s California Concert Hall, patrons “bucked the tiger” under the watchful eye of Kitty Crawhurst, popular “lady” gambler.
—Administration in the State of Colo, U.S. public relief program (1935-1943)

The local is a shabby thing. There’s nothing worse than bringing us back down to our own little corner, our own territory, the radiant promiscuity of the face to face. A culture which has taken the risk of the universal, must perish by the universal.
    Jean Baudrillard (b. 1929)
