Myriophyllum Spicatum - Introduced Areas

Introduced Areas

Myriophyllum spicatum was likely first introduced to North America in the 1940s where it has become an invasive species in some areas. By the mid 1970's, watermilfoil had covered thousands of hectares in British Columbia and Ontario, Canada. Eurasian watermilfoil is now found across most of North America and recognized as a noxious weed.

Famous quotes containing the words introduced and/or areas:

I was here first introduced to Joe.... He was a good-looking Indian, twenty-four years old, apparently of unmixed blood, short and stout, with a broad face and reddish complexion, and eyes, methinks, narrower and more turned up at the outer corners than ours, answering to the description of his race. Besides his underclothing, he wore a red flannel shirt, woolen pants, and a black Kossuth hat, the ordinary dress of the lumberman, and, to a considerable extent, of the Penobscot Indian.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

The ambiguous, gray areas of authority and responsibility between parents and teachers exacerbate the distrust between them. The distrust is further complicated by the fact that it is rarely articulated, but usually remains smoldering and silent.
    Sara Lawrence Lightfoot (20th century)
