MyNetworkTV began operations on September 5, 2006 with premieres of its two initial series. Some affiliates unofficially began branding their stations on September 4, 2006 – Labor Day – with supplied preview specials. Programming airs from 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. (Eastern/Pacific time) Monday through Saturday.

At least twenty-two current and former affiliate stations have presented MNTV programs out of pattern:

  • KEVU-CD in Eugene, Oregon airs the MNTV schedule from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m., after the "Prime Time Talk" block of Dr. Phil and Oprah.
  • KZJO in Seattle, Washington airs MNTV programs from 12 a.m. to 2 a.m. to make way for syndicated reruns of The Simpsons at 8 p.m. and a 9 p.m. newscast.
  • KPDX in Portland, Oregon/Vancouver, Washington airs MNTV programs from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. due to their hour-long newscast at 8 p.m. produced by sister station KPTV which debuted on September 8, 2008.
  • KRON in San Francisco airs MNTV programming from 9 to 11 p.m. after KRON 4 News at 8PM.
  • From MNTV's launch through September 19, 2009, KQCA in Sacramento, California aired MNTV programming one hour earlier (7 to 9 p.m.) than most other affiliates due to its airing of repeats of Oprah at 9 p.m. as a lead-in to the station's 10 pm newscast produced by sister station KCRA-TV. KQCA now presents MNTV programming in pattern, with the 7 to 8 hour now filled with reruns of The Office.
  • During its time as a MNTV affiliate KJZZ in Salt Lake City, Utah aired MNTV programming from midnight to 2 a.m. Mountain time, and brands their station with their call letters rather than My 14; the reasons included a local marketing agreement with then-CBS owned-and-operated station KUTV, which allows KJZZ to re-air some syndicated shows from KUTV. It had originally aired from 11 p.m. to 1 a.m. at the network's launch. KCSG, an independent station in St. George, replaced KJZZ as Utah's MNTV affiliate on August 18, 2008. KUSG, a former KUTV satellite and currently a This TV affiliate (and also simulcast on KUTV's second digital subchannel), added MNTV to its schedule on September 20, 2010; however, it delays MNTV programming by one hour (airing from 8 to 10 p.m.) to accommodate a KUTV-produced 7 p.m. newscast. Eventually, in November 2010, KUSG completely replaced KCSG as Utah's MNTV affiliate and changed its call letters to KMYU.
  • KWKB in Iowa City, Iowa, a dual affiliate of The CW and MNTV, aired MNTV programming weeknights from 9 to 11 p.m. Central time, immediately following CW programming. However, as of September 19, 2011, it dropped the network for local programming, leaving the market temporarily without an MNTV affiliate. At some point in early October, KCRG-DT2 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa picked up the market's MNTV affiliation; however, it delays MNTV programming to Tuesday through Saturday mornings from 12:05 a.m. to 2:05 a.m. in order to concentrate on local programming.
  • KDMI in Des Moines, Iowa, which re-affiliated with MNTV on October 3, 2011 as a secondary affiliation, airs the service's programming weeknights from 11 p.m. to 1 a.m. Central time due to its commitment to its This TV affiliation. Prior to dropping the network in September 2009, it had aired MNTV programming in pattern. For nearly one year after KDMI initially dropped MNTV, The CW affiliate KCWI-TV aired WWE SmackDown from the service on Saturday evenings from 7 to 9 p.m. but did not air the remainder of the service's programming.
  • During its time as a dual CW-MNTV affiliate, KNVA in Austin, Texas aired MNTV programming Monday-Saturday from 9 to 11 p.m. Central time, immediately following CW programming. In the month prior to the relaunch of former KXAN-TV semi-satellite KBVO in Llano, Texas as a standalone MNTV affiliate, it aired MNTV programming weeknights from 10 p.m. to midnight Central time following a KXAN-produced 9 p.m. newscast which debuted on September 28, 2009 (coinciding with MNTV's transition to a syndication programming service) and a repeat of The Office.
  • KRBK in Osage Beach/Springfield, Missouri switched to a primary Fox affiliation on September 1, 2011, shifting MNTV to 9 to 11 p.m., immediately following Fox programming. During its time as a sole MNTV affiliate, it aired the service's programming schedule in pattern.
  • WLMT-DT2 in Memphis, Tennessee, which began airing MNTV in October 2010, presented the Monday-Thursday MNTV programming lineup in pattern but aired the service's Friday lineup on Saturdays from 9 to 11 p.m. Central time until November 14, 2011 when it dropped RTV in favor of Me-TV. Since then, WLMT-DT2 has presented all MNTV programming in pattern with Me-TV airing at all other times. In the year prior to WWE SmackDown's move to cable channel Syfy in October 2010, WLMT's main channel aired that program on Saturday evenings from 7 to 9 p.m. but did not air the remainder of the MNTV lineup.
  • WNTZ in Alexandria, Louisiana/Natchez, Mississippi and WEVV-DT2 in Evansville, Indiana, both secondary MNTV affiliates, air MNTV programming Monday-Friday from 9 to 11 p.m. Central time, immediately following Fox programming. Prior to July 1, 2011, when WEVV-DT2 replaced WTVW as Evansville's Fox affiliate, WEVV-DT2 aired MNTV programming at its normal time.
  • WCIX (formerly WCFN) in Springfield, Illinois airs MNTV programming one hour later than normal, from 8 to 10 p.m. Central time, in order to accommodate a weeknight 7 p.m. newscast produced by sister station WCIA.
  • WISE-DT2 in Fort Wayne, Indiana, a secondary MNTV affiliate, airs MNTV programming from 10:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. following local news. Prior to August 1, 2011, when WISE-DT2 replaced WFFT as Fort Wayne's Fox affiliate, WISE-DT2 aired MNTV programming at its normal time.
  • WNAC in Providence, Rhode Island, also a secondary affiliate, aired MNTV Monday-Friday from 11:30 p.m. to 1 a.m., with Saturday primetime running on early Sunday mornings from 1:30 to 3:30 a.m. (WNAC has since moved the MNTV affiliation to a digital subchannel, which presents MNTV programming in pattern.)
  • WGGB-DT2 in Springfield, Massachusetts, also a secondary affiliate, airs MNTV Monday-Friday from 11:35 p.m. to 1:35 a.m.
  • WTRF-DT2 in Wheeling, WV/Steubenville, OH and WLIO-DT2 in Lima, Ohio, both secondary affiliates, air MyNetworkTV from 11 p.m. to 1 a.m.
  • Until 2012, WXTX in Columbus, Georgia aired MNTV as a secondary affiliation from 12:05 a.m. to 2:05 a.m. Currently, there is no over-the-air MNTV affiliate in the Columbus, GA market.
  • WTHI-DT2 in Terre Haute, Indiana airs MNTV programming as a secondary affiliation from 11 p.m. to 1:05 a.m. as of September 1, 2011, when WTHI-DT2 also replaced WFXW (now ABC affiliate WAWV-TV) as Terre Haute's Fox affiliate. WTHI-DT2 became the first MyNetworkTV affiliate ever in the Terre Haute market.

Heavy local sports preemptions are a problem for MyNetworkTV, as they have been for all the netlets. However, they have become less of an issue with the end of the network's telenovela strategy, where an airing of the pre-empted telenovela episode as soon as possible on the same day was required by default rather than the flexibility to push a show off to the weekend that came with UPN, WB, or CW affiliation. Affiliates often scheduled contractual "make goods" of its daily line between 3 and 6 a.m. Not only are these light viewing hours, but they air after Nielsen processes its preliminary morning network ratings.

Famous quotes containing the word programming:

If there is a price to pay for the privilege of spending the early years of child rearing in the driver’s seat, it is our reluctance, our inability, to tolerate being demoted to the backseat. Spurred by our success in programming our children during the preschool years, we may find it difficult to forgo in later states the level of control that once afforded us so much satisfaction.
    Melinda M. Marshall (20th century)
