Other Isle of Man Music Festivals

The Garden Party

'We are a small but ever-growing unique festival based on the Isle of Man which started out in 2010. Our mission is to give the public what they really want in a music festival and in doing so, promote the wonderful local talent we have here on the Island, support local business and local charities. The dates of our event are always centered around the Island’s Tynwald celebrations and the name is actually a nod to the garden party that is held annually by the Island’s Liuetenant Governor who is the Queen’s representative on the Isle of Man. The event is held in Begoade Fields, Onchan which is just outside the main village and not far from the Island’s capital Douglas.' www.thegardenparty.im

Famous quotes containing the words isle, man, music and/or festivals:

    She carries in the dishes,
And lays them in a row.
To an isle in the water
    With her would I go.
    William Butler Yeats (1865–1939)

Why the ghosts of poor old dead Romans should be dragged in every time a man eats an oyster, I don’t see. We’re as fine specimens as they were. I swear I shan’t let any old turned-to-clay Lucullus outlive me, even if I’ve never eaten a lamprey.
    John Dos Passos (1896–1970)

We often love to think now of the life of men on beaches,—at least in midsummer, when the weather is serene; their sunny lives on the sand, amid the beach-grass and bayberries, their companion a cow, their wealth a jag of driftwood or a few beach plums, and their music the surf and the peep of the beech-bird.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

This is certainly not the place for a discourse about what festivals are for. Discussions on this theme were plentiful during that phase of preparation and on the whole were fruitless. My experience is that discussion is fruitless. What sets forth and demonstrates is the sight of events in action, is living through these events and understanding them.
    Doris Lessing (b. 1919)
