MTV Russia

MTV Russia (Russian: MTV Россия) is a Russian language free-to-air 24 hour entertainment and music service seen in 22 million households in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Omsk, Voronezh, Novosibirsk, Chelyabinsk and Yekaterinburg, among other cities. The channel was launched in 1998 and became the first US television brand to localize in Russia. In 2007, Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN) signed an agreement with Prof Media to operate and broadcast the channel along with VH1 Russia. Shortly after this agreement the channel gradually shifted from a music orientated channel to a more youth orientated brand.

It was confirmed in December 2012, MTV Russia will cease broadcasting on June 1, 2013 and replaced by a new general entertainment channel.
