The Mountains of East Kerry, also called the Mangerton Mountains, are a range of mountains situated immediately to the south and east of Killarney National Park and the town of Killarney in County Kerry in the Ireland. The mountain range is unnamed, but forms a natural unit, being separated from the other mountain ranges in the area by the Lakes of Killarney to the north-west, the valley of the river Flesk to the north and east, the Kenmare valley to the south and is linked the mountains of the Iveragh Peninsula only by a relatively low ridge at Moll's Gap at its western end. A substantial part of the western end of the range has been incorporated into Killarney National Park and is a popular area for hikes and hillwalking.

Famous quotes containing the words mountains of, mountains, east and/or kerry:
“Mountains of Whimseys, heaped in his own Brain,
Stumbling from thought to thought, falls headlong down
Into Doubts boundless Sea, where like to drown,
Books bear him up a while, and make him try
To swim with Bladders of Philosophy,”
—John Wilmot, 2d Earl Of Rochester (16471680)
“We envy not the warmer clime, that lies
In ten degrees of more indulgent skies,
Nor at the coarseness of our heaven repine,
Though oer our heads the frozen Pleiads shine:
Tis Liberty that crowns Britannias Isle,
And makes her barren rocks and her bleak mountains smile.”
—Joseph Addison (16721719)
“I know no East or West, North or South, when it comes to my class fighting the battle for justice. If it is my fortune to live to see the industrial chain broken from every workingmans child in America, and if then there is one black child in Africa in bondage, there shall I go.”
—Mother Jones (18301930)
“Hed gone to great expense
Keeping all the Kerry men
Out of that crazy fight;
That he might be there himself
Had travelled half the night.
How goes the weather?”
—William Butler Yeats (18651939)
