Famous quotes containing the words mountain and/or wilderness:

A mountain chain determines many things for the statesman and philosopher. The improvements of civilization rather creep along its sides than cross its summit. How often is it a barrier to prejudice and fanaticism!
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

Enough if the work has seemed,
So did she your strength renew,
A dream that a lion had dreamed
    Till the wilderness cried aloud.
    William Butler Yeats (1865–1939)
