Events
In 1949, the first annual Brisbane to Gladstone yacht race was held starting in Moreton Bay. This event is a popular sailing event held on the bay and is one of many that occur. There are several other sailing events held throughout the bay, generally starting from the Manly Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron. Recreational fishing is a big part of the bay's history and there is an annual Moreton Bay Classic fishing competition run by Brisbane Fishing Online held from the Manly foreshore. The bay is home to many watersports and activities including jet-skiing, windsurfing and water-skiing. Snorkelling is especially popular around Tangalooma on Moreton Island as well. Each year the Interclub Bay Cruise is the biggest single marine event held on Moreton Bay, the cruise is held each year in the first week of the Queensland September school holidays and attracts on average 90 vessels.

Famous quotes containing the word events:
“Nothing that grieves us can be called little: by the eternal laws of proportion a childs loss of a doll and a kings loss of a crown are events of the same size.”
—Mark Twain [Samuel Langhorne Clemens] (18351910)
“At all events there is in Brooklyn
something that makes me feel at home.”
—Marianne Moore (18871972)
“We have defined a story as a narrative of events arranged in their time-sequence. A plot is also a narrative of events, the emphasis falling on causality. The king died and then the queen died is a story. The king died, and then the queen died of grief is a plot. The time sequence is preserved, but the sense of causality overshadows it.”
—E.M. (Edward Morgan)
