Mississippi Gopher Frog - Range

Range

The Mississippi gopher frog was once abundant along the Gulf coastal plain in lower Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama—from east of the Mississippi River Delta to the Mobile Bay. However, it has not been seen in Alabama since 1922 or in Louisiana since 1967. Presently, the population is approximately 100 frogs found in only one body of water (Glen's Pond) in Harrison County, Mississippi and possibly several other locations in Jackson County, Mississippi.

Famous quotes containing the word range:

    They didn’t know
    how
    my heart woke
    to a range and measure
    of song
    I hadn’t known.
    Hilda Doolittle (1886–1961)

Compared to football, baseball is almost an Oriental game, minimizing individual stardom, requiring a wide range of aggressive and defensive skills, and filled with long periods of inaction and irresolution. It has no time limitations. Football, on the other hand, has immediate goals, resolution on every single play, and a lot of violence—itself a highlight. It has clearly distinguishable hierarchies: heroes and drones.
Jerry Mander, U.S. advertising executive, author. Four Arguments for the Elimination of Television, ch. 15, Morrow (1978)

In the range of things toddlers have to learn and endlessly review—why you can’t put bottles with certain labels in your mouth, why you have to sit on the potty, why you can’t take whatever you want in the store, why you don’t hit your friends—by the time we got to why you can’t drop your peas, well, I was dropping a few myself.
