Milton Keynes - Sport

Sport

Milton Keynes has professional teams in football (Milton Keynes Dons F.C.), ice hockey (Milton Keynes Lightning), and Formula One (Red Bull Racing). The town hosted professional basketball between 1998-2012 before the Milton Keynes Lions of the British Basketball League were forced to re-locate after the closure of Prestige Homes Arena. It is represented at amateur level in many sports, some at national level. For details see Sport in Milton Keynes. Milton Keynes is also home to the Xscape indoor ski slope.

Famous quotes containing the word sport:

Rabelais, for instance, is intolerable; one chapter is better than a volume,—it may be sport to him, but it is death to us. A mere humorist, indeed, is a most unhappy man; and his readers are most unhappy also.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

Sweet Auburn, loveliest village of the plain,
Where health and plenty cheered the labouring swain,
Where smiling spring its earliest visit paid,
And parting summer’s lingering blooms delayed,
Dear lovely bowers of innocence and ease,
Seats of my youth, when every sport could please,
How often have I loitered o’er the green,
Where humble happiness endeared each scene.
    Oliver Goldsmith (1730?–1774)

Drag racing is a sport of egos, and it’s all male egos.
Shirley “Cha Cha” Muldowney (b. 1940)
