Interwar Period

In 1922, Benito Mussolini brought the fascist party to power in Italy with his March on Rome on 28 October. Mussolini repeatedly stated his dream of the Mediterranean Sea becoming an "Italian lake" and valued war, saying "Though words are beautiful things, rifles, machine guns, planes, and cannon are still more beautiful".
