Miami Fusion - History

History

The club played in Lockhart Stadium, which was a former high school stadium converted into a soccer-specific stadium. Major League Soccer's contraction following the 2001 season reduced the league from 12 to 10 teams, with the Fusion and their fellow Florida club, the Tampa Bay Mutiny, ceasing operations.

In 2006 the fans of the team started following the "Miami FC", that now -since 2010- is called Fort Lauderdale Strikers.

Famous quotes containing the word history:

Perhaps universal history is the history of the diverse intonation of some metaphors.
    Jorge Luis Borges (1899–1986)

Culture, the acquainting ourselves with the best that has been known and said in the world, and thus with the history of the human spirit.
    Matthew Arnold (1822–1888)

We don’t know when our name came into being or how some distant ancestor acquired it. We don’t understand our name at all, we don’t know its history and yet we bear it with exalted fidelity, we merge with it, we like it, we are ridiculously proud of it as if we had thought it up ourselves in a moment of brilliant inspiration.
    Milan Kundera (b. 1929)
