Melba Gully State Park

The Melba Gully State Park was formed to protect a small pocket of natural rainforest in the Otway Ranges near Apollo Bay in Victoria (Australia). The 48 ha park was extremely valuable as much of the rest of the Ranges has been burnt out many times by bushfires. The park now forms part of the Great Otway National Park.

The park has few facilities due to its small size, but it has a picnic ground and basic picnic facilities, with the main attraction being the 35 minute Madsens Track Nature Walk.

Famous quotes containing the words state and/or park:

You know, there’s one thing wrong with living in a palace. It takes so long to get from one place to another. I live in a constant state of exhaustion.
Arthur Ross. The Prince (Jack Lemmon)

Is a park any better than a coal mine? What’s a mountain got that a slag pile hasn’t? What would you rather have in your garden—an almond tree or an oil well?
    Jean Giraudoux (1882–1944)
