Personal
The NYRR holds over fifty races yearly, and though no longer a marathoner, Wittenberg participates in several of these races. In 2006 she competed in 18 races, and in 2007, she ran 20. Despite her busy schedule, she often runs and cross-trains in Central Park, and starts the day of the New York Marathon with a pre-dawn run.
Wittenberg lives in the Upper East Side of New York City, and is married with two sons. Her family attends St. Ignatius Loyola.

Famous quotes containing the word personal:
“What stunned me was the regular assertion that feminists were anti-family. . . . It was motherhood that got me into the movement in the first place. I became an activist after recognizing how excruciatingly personal the political was to me and my sons. It was the womens movement that put self-esteem back into just a housewife, rescuing our intelligence from the junk pile of instinct and making it human, deliberate, powerful.”
—Mary Kay Blakely (20th century)
“The personal things should be left out of platforms at conventions .... You can argue yourself blue in the face, and youre not going to change each others minds. Its a waste of your time and my time.”
—Barbara Bush (b. 1925)
“It has no share in the leadership of thought: it does not even reflect its current. It does not create beauty: it apes fashion. It does not produce personal skill: our actors and actresses, with the exception of a few persons with natural gifts and graces, mostly miscultivated or half-cultivated, are simply the middle-class section of the residuum.”
—George Bernard Shaw (18561950)
