The present Marquess has one son, Lord Andrew John Tottenham (born 1973), who is adopted. Children adopted into a family do not acquire rights of succession to a peerage title. The heir presumptive is the present holder's brother Lord Timothy Craig Tottenham (born 1948). The heir presumptive's heir apparent is his eldest son Scott Craig Tottenham (born 1977).
