In Ireland, the current Lord Conyngham was popularly known, from 1974 until March 2009, as Henry Mount Charles. He has gained fame as the founder and organiser of the Slane Concerts.

The heir apparent is the present holder's eldest son Alexander Burton Conyngham, Earl of Mount Charles (b. 1975). The current Lord Mount Charles is usually known to family and friends as Alex Mount Charles. From his birth in 1975 up until March 2009, he was known as Viscount Slane (or Alex Slane to his family and friends).

The heir apparent of the heir apparent is Lord Mount Charles's son Rory Conyngham, Viscount Slane (b. 2010). The young Lord Slane is a grandson of the 8th Marquess.
