Power

Each train has eight electric motors operating on 600 volts DC to produce 100 hp (75 kW) each. The motors also serve as brakes via regenerative braking and send power to resistor banks located between each car. Walt Disney World's trains have been fitted with a governor which limits their maximum speed to 55 MPH (89 km/h); however, Disney regulations permit only 40 MPH (64 km/h).

Famous quotes containing the word power:

    Thy blood and virtue
Contend for empire in thee, and thy goodness
Share with thy birthright! Love all, trust a few,
Do wrong to none. Be able for thine enemy
Rather in power than use, and keep thy friend
Under thy own life’s key. Be checked for silence
    But never taxed for speech.
    William Shakespeare (1564–1616)

When there is sympathy, there needs but one wise man in a company and all are wise,—so, a blockhead makes a blockhead of his companion. Wonderful power to benumb possesses this brother.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)

And we ask this where truth is,
Of what use is valour and is worth?
For evil has conquered the race,
There is no power but in base men,
Nor any man whom the gods do not hate.
    Hilda Doolittle (1886–1961)
