People
Mardan is populated by people of different backgrounds and ethnicities, although almost all of its residents are Pashtuns. The people of Mardan are not usually entwined in tribal culture.
The Yousafzai clan is the majority, and Mardan is the considered their de facto headquarters. Myaghan, Sayyads, Awan, Kakar, Daavi,AmanZai, Gojars, Daulat Zai, Lodhi, Mohmand, Afridis, Khattak, Shilmani, Utmankhel, Tanoli and Hindokowans are also present in the district.
