Musical Content

The song has a slow, groovy rhythm, and is arguably the closest the band has come to funk until late 1973, and the introduction of Glenn Hughes who had affection for the genre. The main guitar riff in the vocal section of the song bears a resemblance to the Jimi Hendrix track "Foxy Lady."

Famous quotes containing the words musical and/or content:

Then, bringing me the joy we feel when wee see a work by our favorite painter which differs from any other that we know, or if we are led before a painting of which we have until then only seen a pencil sketch, if a musical piece heard only on the piano appears before us clothed in the colors of the orchestra, my grandfather called me the [hawthorn] hedge at Tansonville, saying, “You who are so fond of hawthorns, look at this pink thorn, isn’t it lovely?”
    Marcel Proust (1871–1922)

    Now they express
All that’s content to wear a worn-out coat,
All actions done in patient hopelessness,
All that ignores the silences of death,
Thinking no further than the hand can hold,
    All that grows old,
Yet works on uselessly with shortened breath.
    Philip Larkin (1922–1986)
