Grammar

Malayalam has a canonical word order of SOV (subject–object–verb) as do other Dravidian languages. Both adjectives and possessive pronouns precede the nouns they modify. Malayalam has 6 or 7 grammatical cases. Verbs are conjugated for tense, mood and aspect, but not for person, gender or number except in archaic or poetic language.

    Richard Chenevix Trench (1807–1886)

Proverbs, words, and grammar inflections convey the public sense with more purity and precision, than the wisest individual.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)

Literary gentlemen, editors, and critics think that they know how to write, because they have studied grammar and rhetoric; but they are egregiously mistaken. Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
