Review of Public Administration
Under the Review of Public Administration (RPA) the council is due to merge with Cookstown District Council and Dungannon and South Tyrone Borough Council in 2011 to form a single council, named Mid-Ulster District Council, for the enlarged area totalling 1714 km² and a population of 120, 096. The next election was due to take place in May 2009, but on 25 April 2008, Shaun Woodward, Secretary of State for Northern Ireland announced that the scheduled 2009 district council elections were to be postponed until the introduction of the eleven new councils in 2011. This super-council however has been postponed for at least five years as of 2010.

Famous quotes containing the words review of, review and/or public:
“Reading any collection of a mans quotations is like eating the ingredients that go into a stew instead of cooking them together in the pot. You eat all the carrots, then all the potatoes, then the meat. You wont go away hungry, but its not quite satisfying. Only a biography, or autobiography, gives you the hot meal.”
—Christopher Buckley, U.S. author. A review of three books of quotations from Newt Gingrich. Newties Greatest Hits, The New York Times Book Review (March 12, 1995)
“As I review my life, I feel I must have missed the point, either then or now.”
—Mason Cooley (b. 1927)
“All appointments hurt. Five friends are made cold or hostile for every appointment; no new friends are made. All patronage is perilous to men of real ability or merit. It aids only those who lack other claims to public support.”
—Rutherford Birchard Hayes (18221893)
