Luther Preparatory School - History

History

Luther Preparatory School is the oldest Lutheran high school in the United States. It occupies the former combined campus of Northwestern College, a preministerial college established in 1865, and Northwestern Preparatory School (NPS), a high school, both run by the WELS. In 1995, Northwestern College was moved to New Ulm, Minnesota and combined with Dr. Martin Luther College to form Martin Luther College. In the same year, Martin Luther Preparatory School (MLPS) of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin was closed and combined with NPS to form Luther Preparatory School. The years after 1995 are known as the post-Amalgamation Era.

Famous quotes containing the word history:

History is more or less bunk. It’s tradition. We don’t want tradition. We want to live in the present and the only history that is worth a tinker’s damn is the history we make today.
    Henry Ford (1863–1947)

What has history to do with me? Mine is the first and only world! I want to report how I find the world. What others have told me about the world is a very small and incidental part of my experience. I have to judge the world, to measure things.
    Ludwig Wittgenstein (1889–1951)

American time has stretched around the world. It has become the dominant tempo of modern history, especially of the history of Europe.
    Harold Rosenberg (1906–1978)
