Clayton-Powell "Powell" Lord III, the grandson of Victor Lord's brother Clayton-Powell, is one of several Llanview University students who participates in the 1993 gang rape of Marty Saybrooke. Viki's son Kevin is also implicated but ultimately exonerated; the rape had been led by Todd Manning, and a guilty Powell had participated due to peer pressure. Powell receives a lesser sentence and later fall in love with Rebecca Lewis, who herself had seen a softer side in the imprisoned Todd and fell in love with him. A subsequent series of rapes is initially blamed on Todd, but it is revealed that Powell is the culprit, believing that he could win Rebecca's love if he became a rapist like Todd.
In 1994, new evidence surfaces that puts Dorian on trial for Victor Lord's death in 1976. Sentenced to be executed, Dorian is later freed when a man named David Vickers comes forward, claiming to be Victor's son by Irene Manning. David wants to secure the $27.8 million trust fund Victor secretly left the son he sired with Irene. David produced Irene's diary, in which Irene ostensibly admits to killing Victor. Upon hearing the revelation, Dorian knows the diary entry to be a forgery, but pays David for his assistance in her release from the charges.
David and his new "sister" Tina become romantically involved, and David soon admits to a guilty Tina that he was, in fact, not her brother. David, knowing the identity of the true Lord male heir, reveals the shocking news that Victor and Irene's son was actually town outcast Todd. Tina agrees to keep the secret about Todd so that she and David could get their hands on Todd's rightful inheritance. With a new plan for Tina to claim the fortune, David and Tina elope in Las Vegas; meanwhile, Dorian discovers the truth about Todd and tells Viki, who confronted Tina and David. Todd is soon revealed as Victor's long-lost male heir.
In 2011, a very much alive Irene Manning reveals that she bore Victor not one, but two sons, twins: Todd and Victor Jr. Irene reveals that when Irene told Victor she was pregnant for a second time after Tina, Victor disregarded her and his heirs. Irene gives Todd to her cousins, Peter Manning and his wife Bitsy, and Irene rears Victor Jr.

“Five oclock tea is a phrase our rude forefathers, even of the last generation, would scarcely have understood, so completely is it a thing of to-day; and yet, so rapid is the March of the Mind, it has already risen into a national institution, and rivals, in its universal application to all ranks and ages, and as a specific for all the ills that flesh is heir to, the glorious Magna Charta.”
