Reunion
In 1987, Viki is diagnosed with a brain aneurysm; during surgery, she has an out-of-body experience which takes her to Heaven. There, she is reunited with former husband Joe Riley, mother Eugenia, sister Meredith, brother Tony, and friends Irene Manning and Samantha Vernon. She also has a conversation with "Niki Smith", who explains the alter-ego's reason for being: for Viki and "Niki" to forge an amicable existence.
