Loop Parkway - Route Description

Route Description

The Loop Parkway begins at an at-grade intersection with Lido Boulevard on the eastern end of Lido Beach in the neighborhood of Point Lookout. The parkway proceeds north as a four-lane divided roadway, crossing over Reynolds Channel, a section of the South Oyster Bay. After crossing Reynolds Channel, the Loop crosses onto Alder Island and into Jones Beach State Park, bending eastward along the marshy island in South Oyster Bay. The only intersection or interchange along the parkway on Alder Island is two U-turn ramps near the western end of the island. The parkway then crosses over South Oyster Bay once again, this time via a drawbridge, crossing onto Meadow Island. After a short northeastern straight on Meadow Island, the Loop Parkway crosses onto the mainland of Nassau County and enters an interchange with the Meadowbrook State Parkway. The eastbound right-of-way crosses over the parkway before turning north and merging into the Meadowbrook northbound lanes.

Famous quotes containing the words route and/or description:

By whatever means it is accomplished, the prime business of a play is to arouse the passions of its audience so that by the route of passion may be opened up new relationships between a man and men, and between men and Man. Drama is akin to the other inventions of man in that it ought to help us to know more, and not merely to spend our feelings.
    Arthur Miller (b. 1915)

Why does philosophy use concepts and why does faith use symbols if both try to express the same ultimate? The answer, of course, is that the relation to the ultimate is not the same in each case. The philosophical relation is in principle a detached description of the basic structure in which the ultimate manifests itself. The relation of faith is in principle an involved expression of concern about the meaning of the ultimate for the faithful.
    Paul Tillich (1886–1965)
