Dow Live Earth Run For Water

The Dow Live Earth Run for Water took place April 18, 2010 and consisted of a series of 6 km run/walks (the average distance many women and children walk every day to secure water) taking place over the course of 24 hours in countries around the world, featuring concerts and water education activities aimed at igniting a tipping point to help solve the water crisis. Jessica Biel, Alexandra Cousteau, Pete Wentz, Angélique Kidjo and Jenny Fletcher were due to lend their names and their time in support.

Famous quotes containing the words dow, live, earth, run and/or water:

The woman was old and ragged and gray
And bent with the chill of the Winter’s day.
    —Mary Dow Brine (1816–1913)

... I want to live and be happy. I believe that we cannot be one or the other by pushing the absurd to all its consequences. I am like everyone. To feel liberated, I sometimes wish death on my loved ones, I covet the wives forbidden to me by the laws of family and friendship. To be logical, I should then kill or possess. But I judge that these vague ideas are unimportant. I everyone tried to put them to reality, we could neither live nor be happy.
    Albert Camus (1913–1960)

The honey of heaven may or may not come,
But that of earth both comes and goes at once.
    Wallace Stevens (1879–1955)

Time now to pack this humpty-dumpty
back the frightened way she came
and run alongnne, and run along now,
my stomach laced up like a football
    for the game.
    Anne Sexton (1928–1974)

For months it hasn’t known the taste of steel
Washed down with rusty water in a tin.
But standing outdoors hungry, in the cold,
Except in towns at night, is not a sin.
    Robert Frost (1874–1963)
