List Of Ci TV Programmes

CITV is the children's television strand of ITV in the United Kingdom. It first began broadcasting on January 3, 1983 using pre-recorded in-vision links, before moving to a studio format at Central Independent Television in 1987. The name of the broadcast was changed to CITV in 1993 and the presentation reverted to an out-of-vision format, with Steven Ryde providing the voice-overs. In 1998 the logo changed again to CiTV while in-vision presentation returned with a popular studio format. Between 1998 and 2006 the ITV children's programming underwent a number of changes, culminating in the creation of the CITV channel in March 2006 to fall into line with the BBC, who had launched CBeebies and the CBBC Channel four years earlier. It was initially launched only on Freeview, Homechoice and Telewest but was made available on Sky Digital in May 2006.

In 2005, ITV were given permission by the independent watchdog Ofcom to reduce the number of hours for children's programming on the ITV Network, the channel that had featured the majority of their children's programmes. The following year, ITV announced that they were ceasing production of children's programmes. The weekday afternoon slot for children's programming began to be populated by quiz shows and drama repeats in 2007, leaving the CITV Channel as the main source of CITV programming. The longest running programme on CITV, Art Attack, began in 1990 and ran until 2007, although the series continues to be aired on the CITV Channel.
