Return To The US
In 1998, Olson returned to the U.S. to take a position with the New York Daily News. She has continued to receive harassing phone calls and mail.
Later that year, Olson and Sam Marchiano were reportedly subjected to a profanity-laced verbal tirade by New York Yankees pitcher David Wells when they approached him at his home to comment on his sudden trade to the Toronto Blue Jays for Roger Clemens. David Cone, Wells's teammate, gave Olson and Marchiano the address to Wells's house. Olson later wrote a column apologizing to Wells for coming to his house during what was such an emotional time. She won numerous writing awards during her time with the Daily News, including "Best Sports Reporting" by the Society of Professional Journalists. She is a frequent guest speaker at schools and colleges, and active in the public school's mentoring program for girls who hope to study journalism.

Famous quotes containing the words return to the, return to and/or return:
“Athletes have studied how to leap and how to survive the leap some of the time and return to the ground. They dont always do it well. But they are our philosophers of actual moments and the body and soul in them, and of our manoeuvres in our emergencies and longings.”
—Harold Brodkey (b. 1930)
“The house waited on your private beach
each day,
when you had the time to return to her.
And you so often had the time,
even when fury blew out her chimney,
even when love lifted the shingles....”
—Anne Sexton (19281974)
“This spending of the best part of ones life earning money in order to enjoy a questionable liberty during the least valuable part of it reminds me of the Englishman who went to India to make a fortune first, in order that he might return to England and live the life of a poet. He should have gone up garret at once.”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
