History
After independence numerous liberal parties were founded across the nation, but they were divided at the electorate. Two remain active today: the social liberal Party Alliance Our Moldova (Partidul Alianţa «Moldova Noastră»), a merger of liberal and social democrat forces and the market liberal Social Liberal Party (Partidul Social-Liberal).
