Lhotshampa, or Lhotsampa, (Tibetan: ལྷོ་མཚམས་པ་, Wylie: lho-mtshams-pa) means "southerners" in Dzongkha, the national language of Bhutan. The term refers to the heterogeneous ethnic Nepalese population of Bhutan.
