Echo Hawk is a member of the Pawnee tribe.
Echo Hawk and his wife, Terry, live in Alexandria, Virginia. Terry is a registered nurse. They have six children and twenty-four grandchildren. John Echo Hawk, director of the Native American Rights Fund, is his brother.
