Path To Sainthood
The efforts of Christ Church Canterbury to secure him the status of 'blessed' seem to have had only spasmodic and limited effect beyond English Benedictine circles. However, Lanfranc was honoured in 1931 when The Archbishop Lanfranc School was opened in Croydon, where he resided at the Old Palace. Christ Church University Canterbury have named their state of the art accommodation block Lanfranc House. He is also remembered in road names in London and Worthing, West Sussex.
He is revered as a saint at Pavia, Bec, and Bayeux, but not at Canterbury. His feast day is 28 May.

Famous quotes containing the word path:
“The living language is like a cowpath: it is the creation of the cows themselves, who, having created it, follow it or depart from it according to their whims or their needs. From daily use, the path undergoes change. A cow is under no obligation to stay in the narrow path she helped make, following the contour of the land, but she often profits by staying with it and she would be handicapped if she didnt know where it was or where it led to.”
