Lake Washington School District - History

History

The district was formed in 1944 by combining three smaller districts:

  • Redmond School District #208
  • Kirkland School District #224
  • Juanita School District #21.

The new district had seven schools; as of 2010, it has 51.

In August 2012, LWSD moved the freshman class into its four high schools, and converted the junior highs to middle schools (grades 6-8).

Famous quotes containing the word history:

History, as an entirety, could only exist in the eyes of an observer outside it and outside the world. History only exists, in the final analysis, for God.
    Albert Camus (1913–1960)

It may be well to remember that the highest level of moral aspiration recorded in history was reached by a few ancient Jews—Micah, Isaiah, and the rest—who took no count whatever of what might not happen to them after death. It is not obvious to me why the same point should not by and by be reached by the Gentiles.
    Thomas Henry Huxley (1825–95)

The best history is but like the art of Rembrandt; it casts a vivid light on certain selected causes, on those which were best and greatest; it leaves all the rest in shadow and unseen.
    Walter Bagehot (1826–1877)
