KRXI-TV - History

History

The station began operations in 1996 taking Fox affiliation from KAME which was owned by a separate subsidiary of Cox Enterprises. KRXI-DT2 added RTV on January 7, 2008. The station was depicted in the episode "Drive" of The X-Files as part of a police chase that took place during the show. After the analog television shutdown and digital conversion on June 12, 2009, KRXI-DT remained on its pre-transition channel (44). However through PSIP, digital television receivers display its virtual channel as 11 (former analog location).

On July 20, 2012, one day after Cox purchased four television stations in Jacksonville, Florida and Tulsa, Oklahoma from Newport Television, Cox put KRXI-TV (along with the LMA for KAME-TV) and sister stations in Steubenville, Ohio, Johnstown, Pennsylvania and El Paso, Texas (all in markets that are smaller than Tulsa), plus several radio stations in medium to small markets, on the selling block.

Famous quotes containing the word history:

As History stands, it is a sort of Chinese Play, without end and without lesson.
    Henry Brooks Adams (1838–1918)

It takes a great deal of history to produce a little literature.
    Henry James (1843–1916)

There is a constant in the average American imagination and taste, for which the past must be preserved and celebrated in full-scale authentic copy; a philosophy of immortality as duplication. It dominates the relation with the self, with the past, not infrequently with the present, always with History and, even, with the European tradition.
    Umberto Eco (b. 1932)
