Youth Academy
Genk is well known for its outstanding youth academy. In 2003 they built their youth center next to their stadium and set up a youth program with Ronny Vangeneugden. There are further plans to build a boarding school and some synthetic pitches. In the past and now, many young players have found their way trough the youth system. Some examples are: Logan Bailly, David Hubert (current captain), Jelle Vossen ( KRC Genk ), Faris Haroun ( Middlesbrough FC ), Steven Defour ( FC Porto ), Sébastien Pocognoli and Sinan Bolat ( Standard Liège ), Marvin Ogunjimi ( RCD Mallorca ), Thibaut Courtois (Chelsea FC) and Kevin De Bruyne ( Chelsea FC )

Famous quotes containing the words youth and/or academy:
“The great difficulty is first to win a reputation; the next to keep it while you live; and the next to preserve it after you die, when affection and interest are over, and nothing but sterling excellence can preserve your name. Never suffer youth to be an excuse for inadequacy, nor age and fame to be an excuse for indolence.”
—Benjamin Haydon (1786–1846)
“I realized early on that the academy and the literary world alike—and I don’t think there really is a distinction between the two—are always dominated by fools, knaves, charlatans and bureaucrats. And that being the case, any human being, male or female, of whatever status, who has a voice of her or his own, is not going to be liked.”
—Harold Bloom (b. 1930)
