Koufalia

Koufalia (Greek: Κουφάλια) is a former municipality and a city in the Thessaloniki regional unit, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Chalkidona, of which it is the seat and a municipal unit. It is located 40 kilometres North-West of the City of Thessaloniki, and virtually by the Axios river. It consists of two communities: Koufalia and Prochoma. The population is 10,757 inhabitants, according to the 2001 census.
