Kornberg
Kornberg is a family of German nobility. The family seat was Kronberg castle above Kronberg im Taunus, Hesse from around 1220 until the male line died out in 1704. The house traces its descent to the Knights of Kornberg. The knights were members of the Teutonic order, sworn to defend the Papal State and the Pope. Around 1200 the order converted to Lutheranism and aligned themselves against their former masters. The knights later became a part of the Prussian establishment. King Frederick I of Prussia raised them to nobility in gratitude for their services.
