Kohneh Bridge - History

History

It seems that the stone-supports of the bridge were constructed during the Sassanids. The Seljuk brickworks around the bridge indicate the repairment of the bridge during that time. Finally, it was reconstructed in its present shape during the Safavids.

Famous quotes containing the word history:

Spain is an overflow of sombreness ... a strong and threatening tide of history meets you at the frontier.
    Wyndham Lewis (1882–1957)

In nature, all is useful, all is beautiful. It is therefore beautiful, because it is alive, moving, reproductive; it is therefore useful, because it is symmetrical and fair. Beauty will not come at the call of a legislature, nor will it repeat in England or America its history in Greece. It will come, as always, unannounced, and spring up between the feet of brave and earnest men.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)

The true theater of history is therefore the temperate zone.
    Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel (1770–1831)
