KKXT
KKXT (91.7 FM) is a non-commercial educational radio station licensed to serve Dallas, Texas, USA. The signal originated in 1950 as KVTT "The V)oice of T)exas T)rade School. Their KEIR (Elkins Institute Radio) was sold to Starr Broadcast Group (Peter and Michael Starr & WIlliam F. Buckley)so Elkins needed this other station to act as an educational platform. Station acted as early outlet for National Public Radio (prior to KERA-FM sign on in 8-74). KVTT aired the Watergate tape transcript reenactments produced b y NPR. KVTT was sold to Research Educational Foundation in 1976 and began a religious operation. http://www.knus99.com/fmlist.html The station was sold to Covenent Broadcast, then to current owner North Texas Public Broadcasting.
