Kingswood (UK Parliament Constituency) - Boundaries

Boundaries

The constituency covers part of the South Gloucestershire unitary authority, consisting of the eastern suburbs of Bristol outside of the city boundary, including the town of Kingswood itself. It largely corresponds to the former borough of Kingswood.

Following the review of parliamentary representation in South Gloucestershire by the Boundary Commission for England, the Kingswood constituency has had its boundaries changed with effect from the 2010 general election. In particular, all wards in the constituency are now from the South Gloucestershire authority, and are as follows:

  • Willsbridge, Bitton, Hanham, Kings Chase, Longwell Green, Oldland Common, Parkwall, Rodway, Siston, Woodstock.

Prior to 2010, the Frome Vale and Hillfields wards of the City of Bristol were part of the Kingswood constituency, but have been transferred to Bristol East. Within South Gloucestershire, the Kingswood seat has gained Hanham, Bitton and Oldland Common from the former Wansdyke constituency, but lost Downend and Staple Hill to the new Filton and Bradley Stoke seat.

Famous quotes containing the word boundaries:

Not too many years ago, a child’s experience was limited by how far he or she could ride a bicycle or by the physical boundaries that parents set. Today ... the real boundaries of a child’s life are set more by the number of available cable channels and videotapes, by the simulated reality of videogames, by the number of megabytes of memory in the home computer. Now kids can go anywhere, as long as they stay inside the electronic bubble.
    Richard Louv (20th century)

We love to overlook the boundaries which we do not wish to pass.
    Samuel Johnson (1709–1784)

Whereas the Greeks gave to will the boundaries of reason, we have come to put the will’s impulse in the very center of reason, which has, as a result, become deadly.
    Albert Camus (1913–1960)
