History
Killara High started to be built in 1968 and was completed in 1970. The school facilitated the growing demands of the community in the newly created East Killara. Most of the students that went to Killara were the eldest in their family as those who had older siblings went to their school, rather than the newly built Killara.
In the 1980s, Killara High purchased a house occupying a corner of the school area, which later became the language centre and is now commonly referred to as "The House".

Famous quotes containing the word history:
“No one is ahead of his time, it is only that the particular variety of creating his time is the one that his contemporaries who are also creating their own time refuse to accept.... “It is the true office of history to represent the events themselves, together with the counsels, and to leave the observations and conclusions thereupon to the liberty and faculty of every mans judgement.”
—Francis Bacon (15611626)
“Racism is an ism to which everyone in the world today is exposed; for or against, we must take sides. And the history of the future will differ according to the decision which we make.”
—Ruth Benedict (18871948)
